mGinger:Earn, money for reading sms

You can now make money by just receiving messages on your cellphone. A Bangalore company has offered to pay users to receive SMS advertisements.

Cellphone users once shunned SMS advertisements but mGinger has changed all that. It has turned the advertising cell phone into a source of income.

It's using permission-based marketing to turn SMS advertising into a lucrative proposition for users.

"What mGinger tries to do is it eliminates spam from your phone. But it does it in such a way that the ads that you do get on your phone turn into useable information," said mGinger CEO Chaitanya Nalla.

And it's simple too. All you need to do is log on to mGinger.com and register yourself with details of the kind of advertisements you want to receive.

Users get to choose the number of ads they want and when they would like to receive them.

The company will pay users 20 paise for each ad read and 10 paise per referral(get paid 10 paisa only when your referrals receive an ad.). And advertisers are excited.

"The day we launched, we got our first advertiser. So that tells us that this medium is powerful, and that advertisers are interested in such a medium," said Nalla.

The company has already run eight campaigns in different sectors, and talks are on with another 200 clients. The website, which started on April 19, has over three lakh registered users.

This may not be a money-spinner for you, but it still has users excited about the additional income. Particularly college students are looking at this as an additional source of pocket money and a reason to stay hooked to their cellphones.

You can register yourself also at given below link:

Maruti SX4 launched, starts at Rs 6.18 lakh

Maruti has finally launched their Baleno replacement with the launch of Maruti SX4 sedan. The car has been launched in two variants both featuring a 1.6 liter petrol engine. The company has not revealed any plans to launch a diesel variant for the time being.

The Maruti SX4 VXi has been priced at Rs 6.18 lakh while the higher variant ZXi would cost Rs 6.89 lakh. Maruti also has a higher end version of Maruti SX4 ZXi priced at Rs 7.24 lakh.

Maruti SX4 has been powered with an engine with 102 BHP which is based on the Suzuki’s advanced, next generation M-series global engine technology.

The company claims that the 16-valve, DOHC, 1.6 liter engine powering the Maruti SX4 would meet the stringent Bharat stage-IV emission norms. Maruti further says that the engine can be modified to meet the forthcoming Euro-V emissions norms too, if needed.

The pricing of the car puts it in direct competition to Honda City which is the most popular model in this segment. Other vehicles in this segment include Hyundai Verna, Chevrolet Aveo and Ford Fiesta.

I personally believe that the company is making a mistake trying to compete with City on the price point. They could have launched it at competitive prices to generate more sales and take away customers from cheap Sedans in this segment.

Yahoo! Photos to be Shut Down!

Yahoo! is planning on axing its online photo storage site, Yahoo! Photos, instead, asking users to shift to other options, more prominently, it's own Web 2.0 photo sharing site, Flickr, a Yahoo! official confirmed.

So, come June, and millions of registered Yahoo! Photos users will be presented multiple options, including upgrading to Yahoo!'s Flickr service or to outside photo storage sites, or even rival sites, said Stewart Butterfield, Director of Product Management at Yahoo!, and Co-founder of Flickr.
Butterfield said while users would be asked to upgrade to outside photo storage sites such as PhotoBucket, which is extremely popular with MySpace users, etc; or to the more conventional Kodak Gallery; or to Snapfish; top priority would be accorded to Flickr nevertheless.

Flickr was sold to Yahoo! in 2005 by Co-founders, Butterfield and wife, Caterina Flake.

Commenting on the development, Jeff Weiner, Executive Vice President of Network Division, Yahoo!, said the move is part of their ongoing efforts to align Yahoo!'s resources, and focus on core strategic priorities.

But yes, Yahoo!'s announcement comes pat after a huge surge in growth of California-based PhotoBucket. From just a quarter of the market about a year ago, PhotoBucket's share has grown to nearly 40 percent last month, according to Hitwise Data.

And in the same period, Yahoo! Photos' market share has gone down drastically to 5.8 percent, while the Flickr share has grown from 3.7 percent to 4.5 percent, says Hitwise Data.

For the last two years, Yahoo! has supported both Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. However Yahoo! Photos by nature is more conventional as compared to Flickr that has been attracting a steady flow of amateur and professional photographers interested only in sharing digital photos online.

Nokia N95: An Overview

With the Nokia N95 sprawled open in landscape mode, it is not difficult to see why the device is called as a multimedia computer rather than a handset. It literally looks like a baby laptop and its features when studied in detail give even more credence to this claim. The innovative 2-way slide concept makes it easy to switch between different modes, going from reading maps to watching a video with a simple slide. A numeric keypad slides out from one end of the device while dedicated media keys slide out from the opposite direction, converting the display into full screen landscape mode.

With powerful 3D graphics, the Nokia N95 has a stunning user interface that makes it intuitive to find the features and services you want.
GPS has finally got the importance that it rightfully deserves with the N95. No longer content as an add-on application, the Nokia N95 makes the GPS integrated with a special maps application. The Maps application includes maps for more than 100 countries, enabling users to explore the world, find specific routes or locate services such as restaurants and hotels and covering more than 15 million points of interest.

You can also purchase additional features, such as city guides and voice guided navigation. The N95 has 160 megs of internal memory which can be easily enhanced using a hot swappable microSD card. Upto 2 gigs capacity cards can be used in the N95 and Nokia plans to release full length movies on such cards for the benefit of users.

Like the Nokia N75, the N95 also has a breathtaking display, its a large 2.6" QVGA with capacity to show 16 million colors. And thats not it, with 3D graphics which are complemented with 3D sounds from the stereo speakers, watching movies will be as good as carrying around a mini movie theatre. The web browser has been a extremely well designed browser for the smaller display which does not compromise on the browsing experience. It comes with a Mini Map, with new features such as a floating toolbar, password manager and auto complete, as well as web feeds with support for Atom and auto update.

Considering that the Nokia N95 will be based on Nokia's widely acclaimed Series 60 operating system, a lot of applications will already be available for the handset when it debuts. Further applications will be easy to develop considering the experience that programmers already have with Symbian.

It is now available in India at a price of Rs 35,000.
