Moserbaer releases Kidnap on Home video

If you remember, in starting of November i have written a post in which i have mentioned that Moserbaer has acquired the home video rights of "KIDNAP" and "GOLMAAL RETURNS". And yesterday only i have seen the ads on television from Moserbaer that it releases "KIDNAP". As its earlier ads, this ad also has some sort of uniqueness that differentiate it from other ads and you will get the look Moserbaer in it, with a tagline of "Hello Happiness". And the ad mainly focusses on Imraan Khan and with some editing, it will show that the movie revolves around four clues that are given by Imraan Khan to Sanjay Dutt for saving her daughter which is played by Minissha Lamba and who is being kidnapped by Imraan Khan.

Kidnap stars Imraan Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba and it is an outcome from "Dhoom" fame director Sanjay Gadhvi. However at box-office, the result was not so good but still it manages a clear win against its competitor release of same week "Drona". The movie manages to earn around 19 crores in box-office from Indian Circuit only during its first few weeks.

Moserbaer has released the DVDs at a price point of Rs.50/- for single disc and VCDs at a price point of Rs.40/- for 2 disc. Keep watching this blog because sooner i will write the DVD review of this movie. And so now keep waiting for Golmaal Returns has it will too come out on Moserbaer DVDs by December and rather stop piracy and wait for this low price Moserbaer original DVDs.

Big Home Video releases new Hollywood titles

Big Home Video has recently released Universal Picture's The Incredible Hulk and Paramount's Iron Man on home video in over seven regional languages, including Hindi. Meanwhile, to cater to the premium segment, Big Home Video has tied up with Crossword to promote the release of The Incredible Hulk and with Planet M to promote Iron Man. A Hulk Zone will be created at select outlets of Crossword for on-the-spot contests and a chance to win exciting merchandise. Planet M chain of outlets, as part of a special focus on Iron Man, is organizing a consumer contest at its key stores across the country.

The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man DVDs are priced at Rs 599, the English VCDs are priced at Rs 299 and the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam VCDs are priced at Rs 99.

Along this two hollywood biggies it has also released Indiana Jones series – Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull on home video. Directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Frank Marshall, with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy as its executive producers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull is a thriller packed with sensational spectacles. The film grossed more than $ 780 million at the worldwide box-office.

Big Home Video has chalked out a marketing plan to unleash this adventure on home video. Through a tie-up with the Planet M chain of stores, buyers of the DVD and the VCD have the opportunity of winning attractive early bird prizes and also taking part in a consumer contest to win exclusive Indiana Jones premiums.

Indiana Jones has been released on DVD as a two-disc special collector's edition at Rs. 699 as well as a single disc DVD at Rs. 599. It presents hours of content that offers in-depth coverage of Steven Spielberg and his cast and crew at work, including pre-production and pre-visualization sequences, photo galleries and a tribute to Indy. This VCD had been released in English at Rs. 299 and in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu at Rs. 99 each.

It seems that still the hollywood titles are sold at a very huge prices and i really hope that sooner this prices will come down as it happened in case of bollywood titles after the entry of Moserbaer in the market as a key player.

And due to this price points only, hollywood titles piracy taking place at a larger scale and even its my personal experience that i have too seen the pirated DVDs are available at a price point of Rs 70/- per DVD. And this DVDs are DVD prints only (means copied from an original DVDs), so they have all those features like subtitles and Dolby sound etc., in it. Even along that you can take 6 movies in just Rs 70/- including all the above movies which are available on Big Home Video for Rs 599/- each.

So, why should a common man go for an original dvds when he is getting that same quality along that a combination of movies at a such lower prices. Because fancy packaging and few gifts are not the main intention for a common man.

Now, really i think this home video players should rethink and reduce there prices and come up with some new effective business models if they wanna really fight back with piracy else they are going to play a looser game in future too.

But even in this case Moserbaer has again got some credit has it is launching its new Hollywood titles at maximum price of Rs.149/- for an english DVD whereas for Hindi dubbed version DVD, its available at Rs. 99/- and am really looking forward for "Righteous Kill" to release on Home Video by Moserbaer. And even i have purchased earlier "Air Buddies" from Moserbaer and it also comes up with a fancy packaging like its provided by any other Home video player at a price point of Rs. 599/- for english version DVDs.

Ganguly Era comes to an end....

One side there was a little snap of GM bankruptcy news on most news channels but along that yesterday there was another breaking news for Indian cricket lovers, India's most successful captain says good bye to his cricket carrier at Nagpur after winning the Test series against Australia. Even i saw yesterday that he throws his t-shirt from balcony to fans like one we remember he did in Lords ground. So here i tried to look into Sourav's cricket carrier in my style and on my research work.

Sourav Ganguly on Monday bid farewell to international cricket amid emotional scenes with more than 18,000 runs under his belt and leaving a rich legacy for the posterity at the end of a 16-year controversy-marred tumultuous career.

In between his century in the debut Test in 1992 and the Bradmanesque exit for a duck in the final innings against Australia in Nagpur, Ganguly's has been an unputdownable story with umpteen twists and turns and in the end of it all, the 'God on the off-side' walked out with his head held high.

Whether the controversial soccer-style shirt waving from the Lord's balcony or the easy-going manner that got him a sobriquet 'Lord Snooty', Ganguly had his own style that also often him in controversies. His brush with new coach Greg Chappell got him out of the team and he also picked up a fight with his mentor Jagmohan Dalmiya only to make up with him later. He staged a come back into the national team after cooling his heels for nine months.

In an era dominated by Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, Ganguly was also one of the best batsman around, both statistically and aesthetically. Each of the 18,000-plus runs he scored, mostly piercing the off-side, showed he knew how to put the bat to the ball. However his weakness was against the short-pitched stuff.

Quitting with a 40-plus average in both forms of the game and 38 centuries against his name, Ganguly surely carved a niche for himself as one of the greatest ODI batsmen ever. While fans will fondly remember his silky cover-drives and soaring sixes, in my opinion Ganguly the skipper is likely to overshadow Ganguly the batsman in the history of the game.

Because Ganguly was the person as a skipper who inherited the team at a time when Indian cricket was struggling to shed the match-fixing slur and by the time he was through with it, Ganguly had established himself as country's most successful captain, courtesy those 21 wins that came under his stewardship spanning 49 Test matches. Once his highly successful partnership with coach John Wright came to an end with the affable Kiwi returning home, Ganguly's subsequent career was marked by umpteen intrigues and irony and the left-hander, credit to his resilience, survived it all. He become only the skipper who has lead India to won both test matches series and ODI Series in Pakistan.Ganguly played a key role to get Greg Chappell as the new India coach but soon sparks flew as two men of equally strong personalities found it difficult to go together.

Subsequently, Ganguly first lost captaincy and then his place in the side to vanish into the wilderness and few believed him whenever he talked about the possibility of a comeback. But for someone who always derived some pleasure out of proving people wrong, Ganguly kept his word and clawed his way back into the side and with a new-found consistency and ironically it was Chappell who eventually had to quit after a tumultuous stint.

He returned with an altered batting philosophy which put industry before incendiary and application before aggression. Those lofted sixes or uppish cuts were less frequent as Ganguly saw the virtue in patience. In IPL we saw him doing his skipper job after a long gap for " Knight Riders", the team which has Ricky Pointing also.

Ganguly never hide his disappointment after getting axed from the ODI squad and once he was ignored for the Irani Cup, the left-hander probably saw the writing on the wall.

For someone who dictated terms all along, Ganguly wanted to go on his own terms. Although talks about cricket's version of Voluntary Retirement Scheme did the rounds, Ganguly insisted he was going on his own.

A charismatic leader who had a wholesome hatred for Australia's hegemony in world cricket, India shed their 'poor traveller' tag under him and learnt to win Tests abroad.

Turning up late for toss, figuring in many an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontations, doing something as outrageous as taking off his shirt and swirling it at the hallowed balcony of Lord's - Ganguly evoked both admiration and irritation but never boredom.

The English press dubbed him 'Lord Snooty' while Australia fumed at his 'delaying tactics'. But for his legions of admirers, Ganguly was the captain courageous, who backed his teammates to the hilt and never indulged in regionalism that plagued Indian cricket for long.

In short and brief it was Ganguly, known as "Dada" among team mates and as " Royal Bengal Tiger" in Indian Media.

GM Motors on the verge of "BANKRUPTCY" ?

Last night i remember i was watching a news bulletin on NDTV and i heard in there headlines that General Motors (GM) of USA is also on its way to bankruptcy. The news really shocking, however even they don't have much regarding the matter at that moment except that Deutsche Bank analyst Rod Lache on Monday set a target price of zero for GM stock.

However since the news was not so clear at that moment so i tried to search on it whole day today on internet to get some more info and also i wanted to know why this situation created for General Motors, USA? So i have collected few matters after my online research, which i wanted to share with everyone so that the whole scene gets little clear for everyone.

Everyone might be knowing that General Motors Crop. is the largest automaker of USA and in India also General Motors sells its product through brand name Chevrolet. There are more than seven models in India which Chevrolet is selling in India currently.

But then why such a situation of bankruptcy created for General Motors which is one of the largest automaker of the USA and also of the World? The answer is that yet no petition for bankruptcy is filled from General Motors and all news of bankruptcy is an analysis on the company's current earning status.

However, its true that General Motors have asked US Government for aid after saying last week that it may not have enough cash to operate this year. If US Government rejects its petition and no aid is provided to the company then it will go and apply a petition for bankruptcy. But till now speculation are that US Government will give financial aid to the company and save it from being a bankrupt company.
But after that also analysts feel that company dont have bright future and again same scenario will rise after few years. Now the question arises why all analysts are thinking like that?
The answer is due to General Motors release of a dismal third-quarter earnings report, creating uncertain times for 2,640 emloyees (tentative) at the Fairfax Assemply Plant. General Motors (NYSE: GM) reported Friday that it lost $2.5 billion in the third quarter, or $4.45 a share. That compares with a loss of $42.5 billion, or $75.12 a share, last year.

Along that analysts also feels that it has been hamstrung for years because it has too much of debt and it has contracts that are uneconomic and according to analysts the solution id this problem is not to lend more money rather General Motors should to pre-packaged bankruptcy.

According Barclays Capital Analyst, without additional financing, GM’s cash will fall to less than the $11 billion to $14 billion minimum it needs in the first quarter of 2009. He set a target price of $1 for GM stock. The stock was in the $6 range a week ago.

However, Deutsche Bank Analyst Rod Lache, yesterday set a target price of zero, saying that even if GM succeeds in averting bankruptcy, the company’s future path will likely be “bankruptcy-like.”

GM already has implemented several provisions designed to cut costs by 30 percent. GM suspended the company match for its 401(k) plan in the United States, effective Nov. 1, and suspended matching contributions for tuition assistance and other reimbursement programs, also effective Jan 1. Executives will receive no discretionary cash bonuses in 2008.

GM also has announced that it plans to lay off about 3,600 employees at 10 assembly plants throughout the country.

Even GM has announced that the company will lay off workers for an indefinite period at the Fairfax plant on Feb. 2 based on seniority but that the company still is determining a specific number.

GM dropped to its lowest level in 59 years yesterday after a Deutsche Bank AG analyst downgraded the shares and said they may be worthless in a year. The shares have lost 86 per cent of their value this year.

Another reason that found in some blogs is that the company is facing the current situation since company use to over pay its workers that is around $81 for 1 hour as compared to $40 for 1 hour paid by its competitor companies like Hyundai, Toyota, Honda and etc to there workers.

So its one of the news after Lehmann Brothers Bankruptcy, which we have to look forward and there was various analysis and reasons given on various websites for GM bankruptcy but i tried to mainly focus on the main reason for which this situation arises and tried to cover up every important matter in brief. But some one knows something regarding this matter he should leave comment below.
